Top June Events and Activities in New York

If you have visited New York, you already know that New York City is one of the few places in the world where there is always something to do. Whether you are enjoying the spring showers or basking out in the summer sun, there is always something to do in the Big Apple. With summer approaching, our Bronx car service specialists have decided to come up with a list of events and activities that will kick off your summer the right way.

Before we share these exciting events, we would like to recommend contracting the services of our Long Island limousine service for all your transportation needs this summer. Our chauffeurs have been professionally trained in the art of hospitality and will go above and beyond to guarantee that your travel experience is nothing short of pristine. Let our trusted chauffeurs take the wheel as you and your companions simply kick back and enjoy the luxury amenities of our vehicles, revel in each other’s company, and make memories that will last you a lifetime. Below are some of the most exciting events scheduled for New York this summer.

Summer Stage

This year Summer Stage will run from the 4th of June all the way to the 24th of September. Events have been scheduled for just about every single day this summer and they will include concerts, spoken word performances, dance parties, theater, opera series, ballet, and much more. As usual, the Summer Stage mainstage will be at Central Park right by the Rumsey Playfield. However, this does not mean that all the fun will be confined to central park; concerts will be taking place all summer at outdoor spaces and parks across the city.

This is going to be the 34th annual event of its kind and if you are a music lover, Summer Stage is undoubtedly going to be the highlight of your summer. You can expect to enjoy live performances from diverse artists, everyone from hip-hop superstars to high-ranking indie-rock bands. The scope of the Summer Stage is wide in terms of entertainment, which can be quite overwhelming, but it also guarantees that there is something for everyone.

Coney Island Mermaid Parade

This event is scheduled for the 22nd of June from 1 pm till late. Here, you will get to witness all kinds of mermaids and mermen as well as other glittery creatures as they invade the Coney Island streets on this annual seas-side affair. The procession this year will be led by Arlo and Nora Guthrie as Kind Neptune and Queen Mermaid respectively.

If you are feeling daring, we recommend stocking up on glitter and taking part in the event yourself. Be part of a tradition that began way back in 1983, founded by Dick Zigun. Don’t miss out on the chance to bring out your inner child and be a part of this whimsical, wild afternoon on Coney Island.

Shakespeare in the Park in NYC

As has been a tradition for several years now, the Public Theatre produces one of the best free summer events in the city - Shakespeare in the Park. The event takes place at the outdoor Delacorte Theater in Central Park and there is nothing quite like witnessing immortal theatre performances with an NYC silhouette, including the Belvedere Castle, for a background; simply stunning. The event was created by Joseph Papp back in 1962 and offers free production for works of William Shakespeare as well as other theatrical dramas.

Shows you can expect to see this year include ‘Much Ado about Nothing’, which will be showing from now until the 23rd of June. You will also get to see ‘Coriolanus’, which will be playing from the 16th of July to the 11th of August. In addition to these Shakespearean works, which the kids may not find particularly amusing, there will also be an animated Hercules musical from the 31st of August through to the 8th of September. Note, however, the popularity of this event means that tickets are quite scarce so you may want to purchase yours well ahead of time.

NYC Rooftop Yoga

Make your way to the Monarch Rooftop Bar, located on 35th Street and enjoy a one-hour yoga session on select dates throughout the month of June. The Monarch Rooftop Bar and Indoor Lounge is a 5,000-square-foot space located on the 18th floor, hundreds of feet above 35th Street with amazing views of the Manhattan skyline. Classes kick off at 12 pm and end at 1 pm, so don’t be late on your day of attendance. Stretch and relax in this hour-long session with some of NYC’s best yoga instructors. Classes are concluded with a complimentary glass of wine and you are free to hang around for as long as you and enjoy the rooftop ambiance.

This rooftop spot offers both a social and corporate vibe, giving you the best of both worlds, so tag your colleagues, or even your boss along, for one or two of these yoga sessions. Monarch also offers guests delicious specialty cocktails, scrumptious bites, amazing views, and unbeatable hospitality and table service. Note, however, you have to be 21 years and above to admitted here. Tickets to each rooftop yoga session are going for only $35 per head and each person is required to bring their own mat.
