4 Things to Do this April in New York

New York is known as the city that never sleeps, but even for such a nocturnal city, the cold can really slow things down. But now that spring is in full swing, the sun is finally out, the flowers are in bloom, and the city finally looks alive again. It’s time to get out of that cocoon and go out into the world. We have compiled some of the most exciting leisure activities and events scheduled to go down in New York for your enjoyment this month.
For all your spring adventures, we recommend employing the services of a reliable car service like our Bronx car service for all your transportation needs. Enjoy a stress-free, chauffeured ride to any one of these amazing events in the comfort of a luxurious vehicle as you simply focus on enjoying the deluxe amenities, the company of your friends and family, and looking forward to the impending experience. Here are some of the most exciting events set to go down in NY this April.

Taste of the Nation

This event is set to take place on the 17th of April between 6 pm and 9 pm. Taste of the Nation is a national charity event where award-winning chefs from each region congregate to show off their culinary skills. The New York Chapter of this charity event will take place at the Brooklyn Expo Centre. Tickets to this event range between $100 & $150 per head and all proceeds will go towards the No Kids Hungry fund, established to combat childhood hunger in the United States.

Brooklyn Folk Festival

Visit the historic neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights and head over to St. Ann’s Church along Montague Street between the 5th and 7th of April and enjoy an assortment musical genre including folk, jug-band, blues, Irish, string-band, Balkan, and bluegrass music. Here you will also get to enjoy family-friendly dancing, instrumental and vocal workshops, a banjo tossing contest, and much more. Ticket prices range anywhere between $20 and $35 per head.

Earth Day Celebration

Earth Day in New York will be celebrated in Union Square Park along 17th Street and Park Avenue on 23rd of April. This is a family-friendly, festive, outdoor event, so bring the kids along and spend some quality time with the entire gang. Here, you will also find numerous interactive displays, a green-vehicle show, live music and entertainment, family activities, and more. We also recommend taking a tour of Union Square and Gramercy Park while you are there just to spice up the experience.

Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival

The Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival will take place on the 21st of April from 10 am. The parade will begin at Fifth Avenue and head North away from 49th Street and onto 57th Street. This is nothing like your usual parades, with marching bands and floats; this parade is more like a casual stroll with participants adorning flamboyant and creative Easter bonnets. If you do not wish to participate, the best place to watch the parade is from St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which is itself a sight to behold.
