Cupsogue Beach

Cupsogue Beach is located on Cupsogue Beach County Park, which is a 296-acre expanse on the far East ends of Long Island, maybe that’s why most people have never heard of it, let alone been there. Cupsogue Beach is located along Dune Road in West Hampton but is only open seasonally, so make sure to visit their website before driving all the way out there. Here you will get to enjoy white-sand beaches, lifeguard supervised swimming in the Atlantic, sunbathing, saltwater bass fishing, and much more. Cupsogue Beach is also equipped with a first aid center in case of any incident, restrooms, snack bars, and changing rooms at the pavilion.

Cordwood Park

Head over to Cord Wood Park in St. James every day from 8 am to 7 pm. You will find this small park in Head of the Harbor, off a dirt road, but trust us, it is absolutely worth any trouble you may experience getting there. Furthermore, since not a lot of people know about this secretive park, you are guaranteed a serene, private setting. Cordwood Park overlooks Stony Brook Harbor and is studded with picnic tables, sitting benches, and quiet, scenic views. We can’t think of a more refreshing serene place in Long Island to spend a chilled Sunday afternoon or a romantic escape with that special someone.

David Weld Sanctuary

The David Weld Sanctuary is located in Nissequogue along Boney Lane. This bird sanctuary is open every day between 9 am and 5 pm but most people pass it by without giving it a second glance. There are trails leading into the woods where you will spot numerous bird species. You can also take a different path that leads to a rocky beach where you can take a quiet relaxing stroll by the water and collect any fascinating rocks you might encounter.
