Lounge 47

Lounge 47 gets its name from the fact that it is located between 47th Avenue and 47th Road. This chic establishment features low couches, cool dim lighting, and relaxing jazz music that encourages some serious lounging. In the back you will find a large patio, which is quite unusual to find in city bars. You will also have the opportunity to sample their reasonably priced menu, which features bar foods and appetizers such as spiced olives, wasabi deviled eggs, sandwiches, and full meals that are all below $10. We particularly recommend that you try their unique, house-made Iced Tea and Kiss-Me-Tini cocktails. Happy hour at Lounge 47 is every day between Monday and Friday, from 3 pm to 7 pm. Include Lounge 47 in your itinerary and head over to Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City on your night out for a unique experience.

Dominie's Hoek

Also located in Long Island City, Dominie’s Hoek is another perfect escape from the city’s corporate feel. This bar features white-painted cinderblock and it is the perfect inspiration for painters, artists, songwriters, and musicians alike. Pints go for a standard $5 and cocktails go for $7. The joint also features a continental menu with fatty foods that generally fall below $10 until 11 pm. Dominie’s Hoek is located in Vernon Boulevard between 48th and 49th Avenues and is open from 5 pm to 4 am from Monday to Saturday and from 12 pm to 4 am on Sundays.

The Creek and the Cave

Not too far from Dominie’s Hoek and Lounge 47, you will find the Creek and the Cave on Jackson Avenue, which is a hybrid of an artist hangout joint, a frat house, and a hippie joint. Here, you will get to enjoy indie movie nights that are regularly screened in the makeshift theater upstairs. The bar also features fluffy couches and drinks that are generally lower than $10. Plan your visit for Fridays or Saturday and enjoy live music performances or live DJ music mixes. Happy hour happens on Saturdays and Sundays between 4 pm and 7 pm.
